To know is good. To know we don't know is great. To do is everything.
The normalization of throwing away unneeded materials, labeled as waste, is down to the uselessness of those materials in their current form to their final user.
Products that leak out such materials are linearly designed products that play a huge role in the amount of waste created. Every disregarded element is not only lost itself, but with it is lost the associated energy, time and resources invested in its make up.
Moreover, collection and treatment costs for generated waste create a second set of costs paid for the entirety of the lifetime of the disregarded products.
What is environmental is economic.
Inevitably, those costs will eventually be paid for by the consumers themselves. Albeit, through the indirect form of taxes allocated by governments to respond to the related necessities.
Under the status quo and even if we recycle all the waste generated, as we should, we will still collectively pay avoidable costs.
The currency, however, is natural resources, energy and time, all of which are finitely available elements in the closed system that is earth.
Pale Blue seeks to contribute to the establishment of a model of society where human well-being and environmental sustainability are the criteria upon which we measure our success.
By supporting governmental agencies in drafting public policies and establishing projects that aim to:
- Prevent waste generation
- Establish alternative environmental industries
- Assist in sustainable development
- Enhance local economies
- Reduce migration towards cities
